How it's constructed: Once coiled the metal is tempered to hold the coil firmness. A higher quality coil mattress will likely have a higher number of turns in the coil. Coils can either be connected together or remain independent, the latter being less likely to transfer motion. The more luxurious models are covered with a layer of memory foam, latex and / or a pillow top.
