Choosing a cheap mattress is a very important event. If you are like me, you are looking for quality mattresses at a bargain prices; it's definitely not a dirt cheap mattress that you're looking for. When you find the right one however, it can make a huge difference to the quality and the quantity of the sleep you get, and help you feel relaxed and refreshed after a full night's sleep.

It's not easy to answer the question 'what is the best cheap mattress I can buy', because different types of mattresses appeal to different people; as humans we are a real mixture of differing shapes and sizes, and while one type of mattress might suit a lightweight, my bulky frame would suffer big time on the same one. 1. How many coil springs are in the matress?

A general rule of thumb, the more springs it has the better, one that has 750 coil springs will almost always be better than one with only 400 springs. This is not always true in every case, but for the vast majority of mattresses on sale in an average retail store this is the case. There are mattresses with up to 1000 coils, but you can get away with less and still have made an excellent choice.

2. What type of coil springs are they?

Coil springs come in at least three different types:

(i) Hour-glass springs are named because of their shape, and they have a tendency to become compressed over time which results in the mattress becoming firmer. This type of spring means that your purchase will tend not to last quite as long, meaning you can get some very good deals on this type.

(ii) Continuous springing gets its name from the way the coil springs are made from a single piece of wire. Generally this type of coil is made from a heavier wire which means they provide a firmer support and last a little longer.

(iii) Pocket springs are named because each coil spring is sewed in to its own fabric pocket which means it is not dependent on the other springs around it to function as it should. When weight or pressure is applied on one area of the matress, that area will moved independently of the area around it - these matresses are ideal if your partner is much heavier than you are, my wife loves our new pocket sprung matress!

When you are searching for a new cheap mattress, there are a few other things to consider as well like the fabric being comfortable and durable. The single most important factor is comfort; whichever model you choose to buy, you will have it for many years to come so spend enough time making sure it is right for you.

It was the week before I was due to move with my boyfriend to a condo across town. While the new place was considerably bigger than our previous apartments, it was no surprise that we each had our fair share of items listed on Craigslist at rock bottom prices, including a full sized bed.
